This month, we are thrilled to highlight a very special Divas couple, Devon and Mark Burton! Just as it was fate how they met, you’ll learn it was fate how we connected too. Devon and Mark had no idea that their first sales jobs after college would end up selling them on everlasting love for each other. That love carried them through life together, and landed them on their perfect wedding day - entirely planned and executed by the Divas with Devon and Mark’s vision in mind!
“We were referred to Divas through a friend who highly recommended [them]!” Devon exclaimed. Fate indeed, as this couple was one of only a few (so far!) that honored us by allowing us to take the reins and plan their day from start to finish. From the first look and private vows intimately exchanged between the two, to the beautiful beach ceremony, to the rocking party that followed, the day flowed seamlessly, and an amazing time was had by all.
With Devon originally from West Chester and Mark hailing from Bucks County, Avalon might not be the first place you think of for their wedding venue. But as it turns out, it was more than fitting for the pair to tie the knot on the beach. “Mark and I grew up going to the Jersey shore - we both have made memories there growing up separately, and together,” Devon explained. This naturally made the beachfront hotel, ICONA Windrift, the perfect backdrop for their wedding day!
As one of only two beachfront hotels in Avalon, ICONA Windrift has been serving as a warm and welcoming sweet escape for nearly 60 years. Not only do they boast the only ocean view wedding venue on the island, but the reception space offers coastal chic vibes and absolutely delicious cuisine. With the warmth of the sun on their backs and the gentle hum of the sea in the distance, guests were enchanted by the ceremony and the sheer beauty of the couple, before being dazzled by the lively reception.
The Rockets Band serenaded all as the party kicked off, and carried the good vibes through into the night. Mark even joined them onstage for a song or two! “My favorite memory is dancing and singing along to our band with our closest family and friends surrounding us,” Devon recalled. With exquisite food, drinks, music, and energy all around, the most wonderful memories were made. Guests were “sold”!
After such a fabulous day, we had to ask our couple what advice they had for others beginning to plan their big day. As one of our couples that utilized our full planning services, we were on the edge of our seats to hear what they had to say! Devon advised: “Hire Divas. Planning a wedding is a full-time job that can get extremely overwhelming without extra help. Treanna and her team take care of it all. Day of we had a groomsman rip his pants, Treanna sewed him up. We joked that Divas was our wedding ‘fairy godmother’!”
